We enjoyed our 3rd and final stay at the historic Hotel Nacional de Cuba. After checking out of the hotel we wondered if the taxi to the airport would be an old Chevy or beat up Russian Lada but the doorman hailed down a modern black Mercedes. The driver played relaxing classical music on the journey, great way to leave Cuba in such style.
Summing up we had an excellent trip through Cuba. The people were friendly and it didn't feel very touristy. We felt safe and the minimal traffic on the road was a pleasure to travel in. The cars that were on the road were old classics. Quite unexpectedly we had good food and heaps of it. We had a fun group and a great tour leader. It has been one of our best trips to date, we look forward to traveling there again very soon maybe by bicycle.
The hour flight to Cancun was another excellent smooth one. We caught a bus to Cancum central then walked a couple of blocks to our Hotel. First impressions that hit us was the traffic, many western restaurants, shops, people on the street selling arts and crafts - totally different to Cuba.
